Heraklion Marina, Crete, Greece

This port has ben a hotspot of maritime trade for nearly five millennia. It is located at the center of Heraklion Prefecture’s northern coast right next to the island’s capital. During the 20th century, it was expanded to the east of the antique harbor. The 700 hundred year old fortified Venetian Harbor now stands as a modern marina and recreation area. With mooring berths organised by the Heraklion Yacht Club, this historic harbor area can accommodate yachts of up to 15m. As well as the smart basic facilities, the Heraklion Marina has a perfect location if you would like to step ashore and enjoy learning about the ancient culture at the town centre. Venetian harbor of Heraklion still serves two purposes: It is used both by fishing boats as an anchorage point and as a marina for sailing vessels and yachts. It is quite busy during the high season, so space can be limited. But after the addition of a floating wharf for yachts, more vessels can now be accommodated.

It is a well-organised establishment that offers parking facilities, security sevices, a cafe, water and electricity, fuel and a slipway.

Because the marina is right in the heart of Heraklion, it is just a few minutes’ walk from the city center and the market. This is one of the major advantages that the guests of the marina enjoy.
